Award from Association of American Publishers (AAP) honors BIOZONE International
for excellence in educational products
Washington, DC; June 05, 2015 – BIOZONE is pleased to announce that Biology for NGSS was presented an award for Supplemental Resources – Science, Health and the Environment at the REVERE Awards Gala on June 3. The award was given for the creation of a highly-visual student workbook, which was designed to meet the high school life science requirements (HSLS) of the new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) being adopted by many states throughout the US. Written from the ground up, it integrates disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts (the three dimensions of the standards) throughout the workbook.
"The NGSS represents a parasigm shift in the way in which science is taught," said BIOZONE CEO Richard Allan. "BIOZONE has embraced this new approach and we are excited about how it may very well result in students being inspired to pursue a science career".
The REVERE (Recognizing Valuable Educational Resources) Awards recognize creative resources that engage 21st century teachers and learners. Produced by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) PreK-12 Learning Group, the awards are the only of their kind to distinguish learning resources in all media, for all ages, and covering a wide array of educational subject areas and learning environments.
The Award was given in the Classroom category, which recognizes resources developed for formal educational instruction or training; categories include whole curriculum, supplemental resources and professional resources and span a range of educational subjects and topics. This year’s 80 plus Classroom finalists competed for the top prize in one of 23 subject-area subcategories.
“This year’s winners present an impressive slate of learning resources across all educational settings. While it was difficult to chose just one winner in the Supplemental Resources for Science category, we were excited to present a REVERE Award to BIOZONE International,” said REVERE Awards Judge and Awards committee chairperson, Eric Hamilton, Assistant Director, NCSLET Administration at the American Museum of Natural History.
Award winners were evaluated through in-person events and remote judging by 100 evaluators in the education and publishing industries. Key principles that drove the evaluation of winners were quality content and design, audience engagement and appropriateness, usability and originality and effectiveness along with comments and recommendations given by judges.
